Woodstock Police Department Partners With Cherokee County Safety Town Program To Educate Youth

During the week of Monday, June 18, 2012 – Friday, June 22, 2012, the Woodstock Police Department partnered with Cherokee County Safety Town in an effort to educate rising Kindergarteners on a variety of safety messages. The program was held at Bascomb Elementary with approximately 60 children participating in the program.

Officers with the Woodstock Police Department spent the week instructing children on various safety topics, such as: bicycle safety, dangers of touching guns, pedestrian and traffic safety, water safety, and stranger awareness. The program activities consisted of a new safety message each day and medals were presented to all participants on the last day of the program.

The Cherokee County Safety Town program offers sessions each summer and is sponsored by Cherokee Safe Kids.
