Woodstock Fire Now Equipped with Electric Bikes

WFDBikes1 (002)

April 5, 2017 -  Woodstock Firefighters will now be able to respond to calls for service quicker on trails thanks to the purchase of 2 Levo HT ‘Electric Assist’ bicycles; which were purchased from Out Spokin’ Bicycles by the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation.

These bicycles will assist responders in reaching patients over difficult terrain quicker and with less physical stress.  While the rider still peddles on an ‘electric assist’ bicycle, he or she does not exert as much energy when climbing steep hills.  Utilizing these bicycles will allow the responder more stamina to treat and evacuate the patient in need of assistance.

“We want to thank the Woodstock Public Safety Foundation for their commitment to public safety in Woodstock.  The purchase of these ‘electric assist’ bicycles will allow us to better serve our citizens and visitors” says Dave Soumas, Fire Chief.  Out Spokin’ Bicycles has played an instrumental role in equipping and guiding the success of our bike team.  We appreciate their partnership” he added.

Launched in 2011, Woodstock Fire Department’s Bike Team members complete a 16-hour training course which consists of bicycle safety, bicycle laws, and bicycle response to emergencies.  The bike team deploys at larger events as well as on the trails for routine patrols, training, and responding to calls.
