Citizens' Public Safety Academy



The Woodstock Police & Fire Departments are now accepting applications for the Fall 2017 Citizens’ Public Safety Academy, scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 31, 2017.  

Citizens’ Public Safety Academy is a series of educational classes designed to enhance the citizen’s understanding of various aspects within the police and fire profession. The program is intended to strengthen the relationship between the citizens and the Woodstock Police and Fire Departments, as well as spotlight the responsibilities of public safety personnel and the inherent risks associated with the professions.  Some of the classes offered during this series are:  CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter) seminar, Criminal Investigation Procedures, Crime Prevention, extrication demonstration, thermal imagining camera presentation, fire safety, and fire prevention.  The class will also tour the Woodstock Fire Department, Cherokee County Fire Training Center, and participate in a judgmental shooting demonstration at Georgia Public Safety Training Center at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

The Citizens’ Public Safety Academy will be held at Chattahoochee Technical College, 8371 Main Street in Woodstock, every Thursday evening, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., August 31 –November 9.

Anyone who lives, works, or has an expressed interest in the City may apply for the Citizens’ Public Safety Academy.   Applicants are required to be at least 19 years of age and submit to a background investigation prior to acceptance in the program.  Once accepted, positions are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.  

Citizens’ Public Safety Academy applications are available at the Woodstock Police Department, located at 12453 Highway 92, Woodstock, GA 30188 or by visiting www.woodstockga.gov/police/cpsa.  The deadline for accepting applications is Monday, August 28, 2017.
