Calvin W. Moss was sworn in as chief of the Woodstock Police Department on February 27, 2012. Prior to his appointment, he served for more than thirty years with the Atlanta Police Department. There he worked as a patrol officer, sergeant, and lieutenant prior to his appointments to major and deputy chief. During his tenure, he served in a variety of assignments, including operations, investigations, special operations, training, public relations, and special events management, before retiring as deputy chief of the department’s criminal investigations division.

Chief Moss holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Brenau University and a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in critical incident management from Saint Leo University. He is a summa cum laude graduate of both the 87th AOC at the Southern Police Institute in Louisville, Kentucky and the 233rd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. His professional memberships include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI National Academy Associates, Police Executive Research Forum, and Metropol among others.

Chief Moss and his wife, Sandra, have two daughters, Emily and Abbey.
