Fire Department
Applications
Applications are accepted for entry level Fire Department positions on a continual basis. Applicant testing is done annually for entry level firefighter positions. Eligibility lists for vacant entry level positions are developed from the results of that testing process.

Examinations
Examinations for city positions in the fire service require a written examination and oral exam as well as a physical agility test. Applicants that successfully pass the exams are required to complete a thorough background review and pre-employment physical including drug testing.

Additional Firefighter / EMT Requirements
Applicants must:
  • Be 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have no felony convictions or convictions for a crime of moral turpitude 
  • Have Module 1 Georgia Fire certification and EMT Intermediate certification
  • Possess good moral character
