David Bores began his tenure as Chief of Police with the Woodstock Police Department on January 7, 2009.
Prior to his appointment as Chief of Police, he served at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office for sixteen years, attaining the rank of Major. While at the sheriff's office he was the Commander of Headquarters Operations that included responsibilities over the agency's training and special operations programs, internal affairs functions, court security at the Justice Center, recruitment, and administrative services. Before his employment with the sheriff's office in 1993, he served for twenty three years in the United States Army as a military police officer, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1991. In addition to his law enforcement experience, he also serves as an adjunct instructor at Kennesaw State University and at Reinhardt College in their criminal justice programs.
Chief Bores believes that the professionalism of law enforcement officers should be measured by their character, competence, and level of service to the general public. He also is a strong proponent for and maintaining strong partnerships with law abiding citizens in order to address community problems and quality of life concerns. It is only by working together can we make Woodstock a better place to live and work.
