Arbor Day:
Friday, February 19

Celebrate all things green with our annual free seedling and tree care guide giveaway! Seedlings and the guide can be picked up at the City Hall Annex, the Woodstock Community Center, Senior Center, and Dean’s Store. The guide is also on our website!

Earth Day Celebration:
Thursday, April 22nd

Grab your lawn chair and join us in the City Park for a free lunchtime concert with Steve Lusk, guitarist and vocalist best known for his talents singing hits from Jimmy Buffett to James Taylor! This concert will be sure to make you clap your hands and tap your feet! Pick up your lunch at one of the local restaurants and enjoy the show! The concert is from 11:00am – 2:00pm. While you are there, visit our vendors who will have lots of ways to celebrate Earth Day! Fun for the kids with a moonwalk and crafts!

Great American Clean-up:
Saturday, April 24

City Wide Yard Sale
Always held the last Saturday in April, citizens are encouraged city-wide to hold yard sales! Call to have your yard sale added to the list on our website, flyer, e-mail blast, Craig’s List, and newspaper ads at no charge. Or bring your yard sale items to the William G. Long Senior Center and rent a table there. We will be having our own yard sale again this year! Table rental proceeds support the Senior Center programs. Rent a table for $15. Sale begins at 9:00am. Great way to clean up and earn some extra cash! Call Betty Rice at 678-445-6518 for rentals.

Special Trash Pick Up During the entire week of April 19th through the 24th, there will be a special trash pick-up of used appliances and scrap metal by Advanced Disposal. These items will be picked up on your normal trash pick up day. Call 770-517-6788 or see our website for descriptions. Join your HOA for a neighborhood clean up! Woodstock Recycles Saturday, May 8th

Recycling Event
9 am – 1 pm

Held at the old WalMart/Furniture Express parking lot at Highway 5 (Main St.) and Highway 92.

Electronic Recycle The City of Woodstock is joining forces with Advanced Disposal, Atlanta Recycling Solutions, and Dump and Haul to bring the Woodstock community a day of electronic recycling. Citizens are encouraged to bring in their old computers, monitors, cell phones, etc. All disposals will be done free of charge, except for television sets which will require a $10 disposal fee. All equipment will be broken down by Atlanta Recycling Solutions and processed so it can be re-used, thus lessening demands on local landfills and keeping toxins from leaking into our soil and waterways. Drive through, we’ll unload for you!

Battery, Scrap Metal & CFL Recycling We will also recycle your household batteries, scrap metal and compact fluorescent light bulbs! Sorry no car batteries will be accepted. Light bulbs must be in a clear plastic, sealed bag. No appliances with Freon, or motors with oil or gas. We cannot accept auto parts. Scrap metal must be able to fit in a dumpster.

Olde Rope Mill Park 10:00 am

Taylor Randahl Memorial Mountain Bike Trails Dedication Ceremony Mayor Henriques will read a proclamation declaring May 8, 2010, as Taylor Randahl Day in Woodstock as we welcome Taylor’s family from all over the country. The short ceremony will include a plaque unveiling and the naming of the 5 levels of trails in the memorial. Bring your bike and join the City of Woodstock, the Greenprints Alliance, and the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association as we open the first section of mountain bike trail at Olde Rope Mill Park. Downtown Woodstock City Park 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Juggler Adam Boehmer of the Boehmer Family Jugglers will be at the park before the concert entertaining all with his unicycle juggling act! Visit www.TBFJ.com to see more!

Bike Fun! The Southeastern Off-Road Bicycle Association and the Greenprints Alliance of Woodstock will be on hand to talk about the exciting walking and biking trail system coming to Woodstock! Lots of fun activities planned! Come early and see them before the concert!

Opening Night of the 13th Annual Woodstock Summer Concert Series Finish off the day in style with a night in the park! Come see Sister Hazel perform with Memory Dean right in our own downtown City Park. Come early for dinner with our local merchants and vendors. Don’t forget your blanket or lawn chair! Woodstock Summer Concert Series:
May - September

Put on your dancing shoes for the best community concert series in the state! Celebrating its 13th year, we’ll be serving up a free eclectic musical brew of classic rock, current country, oldies, and rhythm & blues in the lovely downtown City Park. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and come early; food vendors, a moonwalk, and face painting for the kids are standards at every concert! Memorial Day Ceremony:
Monday, May 31

The City of Woodstock joins forces with local veteran’s groups to honor those who fight to keep us free. Join us on Memorial Day for a special service of celebration and remembrance, in the downtown City Park. The New Horizons Band will make the occasion even more special. Come visit the new Woodstock Memorial, 10 tons of polished granite dedicated to our Woodstock Veterans who gave us the ultimate sacrifice, their lives. If you know a Woodstock Veteran who died in combat or from an injury as a result of combat, please let us know so we may have their name added to the memorial. Engraved Granite Bench Memorials are also available for dedications. Call 770-517-6788 for more info. Ceremony begins at 10 am.

July 3rd FreedomFest:

Our HUGE parade kicks off the celebration at 10:00 am. The parade starts at Hwy. 92 (old WalMart/Furniture Express) and goes north on Main Street through the Olde Town merchant district to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Rd. After the parade, join us in the downtown City Park until 3:00 pm for food, Adam the juggler, Tim the Magician, musical entertainment, children’s games, watermelon seed spitting contest, cake walk, arts and crafts, and vendors of all types. Fun for young and old! Don’t forget the Annual Woodstock Freedom Run at 7:30 am. The day concludes with fireworks at dusk behind the Target shopping center at Hwy 92 and I-575. Police Department National Night Out:  August 3rd

Join us on Tuesday, August 3rd from 7 pm to 10 pm at a location to be determined, as neighborhoods throughout the City of Woodstock are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "27th Annual National Night Out" crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police – community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, co-sponsored locally by the City of Woodstock Police Department and is being supported in part by TARGET, a national corporate sponsor. September Brown Bag Concert Series: Thursdays in Sept.

Free lunchtime concerts in the downtown Woodstock City Park from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, every Thursday in September. A great Mothers Morning Out activity! Musical groups will be announced closer to the first concert date. So bring a chair, pick up some lunch at one of our great downtown restaurants, and enjoy!

9/11 Day of Remembrance:
Saturday, September 11

Please join us, along with the Woodstock Jaycees, as we remember those lost, as well as the service men and women who continue to fight for our freedom. We honor the men and women wearing the uniform of police, fire and rescue. We will be giving out a limited supply of 9/11 Remembrance lapel pins. Ceremony begins at 7:00 pm at the downtown Woodstock City Park.

Bicycle Rodeo:
Saturday, September 18
th

This is a family fun event, hosted by the City of Woodstock Police Department, to promote bike safety for kids 6 to 14 years old. Police will check bikes, head gear, and teach fundamentals of bike safety. Lowes parking lot at Hwy 92 and I-575 Call 770-592-6015 for details. Event runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Woodstock Music Festival:
 October 2nd

This new all day music festival celebrates the local talent of the area! Different bands every hour with musical tastes for everyone! Enjoy tasty food from a variety of vendors and a moonwalk to entertain the kids! The event begins at 12:00 pm and lasts until 10:00 pm. Bands will be announced on our website prior to that date, so stay tuned. . .

KidsFest
Saturday, October 30th

Halloween trick or treat activities for our younger ghouls and goblins, including moonwalks, DJ, games, Tim the Magician, Adam the Juggler, the ever popular stringed apple and pumpkin bowling games, face painting, costume contest and candy give-away, all in the safety of Woodstock’s downtown City Park. Come early and enjoy dinner with our downtown restaurants and park vendors. This event begins at 3 pm and ends at 7 pm. Costume contest at 6:00 pm in front of the gazebo! Trophies for the funniest, scariest and best costume!

Veterans Day Ceremony:
 Thursday, November 11th

A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, willingness to serve, and sacrifice for the common good. Join the American Legion Post 316 to celebrate our veterans who have given us our liberty and freedom. Candlelight ceremony begins at 7:00 pm. in the downtown City Park. Dirty, torn, and retired Flags unfit to fly can be dropped off for proper disposal at collection boxes located in the parking lots of the Woodstock Community Church (8534 Main St. Woodstock) and the Woodstock Fire Department (225 Arnold Mill Rd. Woodstock)

Christmas Jubilee:
Saturday, December 4th

Presented by LGE Community Credit Union

Kick off the holiday season with our traditional Christmas Jubilee Parade of Lights at 5:30 pm. starting at the old WalMart/Furniture Express on Hwy 92. and going north on Main Street to Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Rd. The Sequoyah High School Women’s Choral Group will be singing and dancing at 5:15 pm at the parade grand stand in front of the Right Wing Tavern. Bring your children after the parade to the Downtown City Park to visit Santa with their wish lists. Our Mayor will announce the winners of the Best Holiday Float and Most Original Float. Preservation Woodstock honors its Citizen of the Year with an award, and the evening ends with the lighting of the Woodstock Christmas Tree! Musical entertainment at 6:45 pm right after the parade in the downtown City Park! Enjoy our free marshmallow roast in the park and help the Woodstock Jaycees Christmas Toy Drive for Cherokee County’s less fortunate children. We will be accepting monetary donations or you can bring any new, unwrapped toy!

Shop with a Cop:

This event helps children whose families are facing financial difficulties by taking them Christmas shopping. Kids have lots of fun shopping with our "Men in Blue". Starts at 7:00 pm at the Walmart at Hwy 92 and Trickum For more information call 770-592-6016. Donations for this great event are always needed and appreciated!

Parent’s Night Out for Christmas Shopping:

Let us entertain your kids while you enjoy a little peaceful shopping this holiday season. We will have movies, fun, games, and food for kids ages 5-12! Bring them to the Woodstock Community Center at 5 pm and pick them up anytime before 10:00 pm. Reservations are a must, no at the door drop offs! Call 770-517-6788 to register. Registration runs from December 6 - 15.

Christmas Tree Chip & Dip:
December 26 – January 15
th

Throw away your Christmas tree the environmental way! Bring your Christmas trees to Olde Rope Mill Park starting the day after Christmas and we will feed them into our new chipper. Then the following week, bring a shovel to Rope Mill Park any time during park hours from 8:00am to dusk to "dip" into the free mulch! Program runs through mid-January. Pick up free tree seedlings at the park on January 8th during our Bring One for the Chipper event sponsored by the Keep Georgia Beautiful campaign. Available from 9am to 4pm.

Friday Night Live
2010 Line-Up

The Downtown Merchants
are excited to announce the complete 2010 schedule for the Friday Night Live Series. Friday Night Live has proved to be a wildly popular event as each month the crowds grow larger and larger. Spend the first Friday evening of every month in Olde Towne Woodstock and enjoy the many restaurants and stores that the area has to offer as the Downtown Merchants stay open late, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This is the third year for the Friday Night Live Series.

For each Friday Night Live theme, participating Downtown Merchants will have activities going on at their stores and throughout the Downtown area related to the theme of the month. Friday Night Live also features great music as bands play throughout Downtown Woodstock in front of the stores which add to the street festival feel of the event.

March 5th: Mardi Gras on Main

The spirit of Mardi Gras comes to Downtown Woodstock. Kick off March in

style and celebrate Mardi Gras on Main!

April 2nd: 80’s Night

Bring out those Members Only Jackets, its 80’s night! From Disco to Rap, Bangs to Big Hair, come and relive the magic of the 80’s. Join the fun and dress up as your favorite 80’s icon for this Friday Night Live.

May 7th: Siete de Mayo

Pop out that sombrero and enjoy the area’s only Siete de Mayo Party! It’s South of the Border in South Cherokee!

June 4th: Electric Luau

From palm trees to little umbrellas, enjoy the feel of the islands without the cost of airfare. Don’t forget your flowered shirt!

July 2nd: Cruisin’ on Main

Watch old cars cruise Main Street. Will also feature some bicycle fun for the kids.

August 6th: Summer of Love

No pond bathing here, but we can promise a summer-lovin’ time. Break out the tie-dyes and head bands for a little early autumn fun as the history of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival is celebrated! Peace, Love, and Rock & Roll!

Sept. 3rd: The Great Downtown Tailgate

No need for double takes, that’s the grill you smell. Put on your team colors and strike up the band for a little early autumn fun!

October 1st: Oktoberfest

Celebrate Oktoberfest in Downtown Woodstock! Grab a brew with your crew and have a blast, too!

Friday Night Live events start at 5 pm. Live music, fantastic food, and festive activities! Forget the malls, save the gas money for great shopping deals!
