WELCOME TO WOODSTOCK MUNICIPAL COURT


The City of Woodstock Municipal Court Services adjudicates misdemeanor criminal, traffic, and city ordinance cases. The Court is committed to the fair, efficient settlement of all cases.

ROBERT TIDWELL, CHIEF JUDGE

Robert TidwellAfter graduating from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2002 where he was a Scholar Merit Award Recipient, Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review and the Chief Justice of the Cumberland Honor Court, Robert Tidwell spent more than 7 years as an insurance attorney with much of that time working as trial counsel for two of the largest insurance companies in the United States. Tidwell has also worked as plaintiff's trial attorney and a personal injury attorney. Robert Tidwell, his wife, and their two daughters are residents of Woodstock. He is also a former member of the US Army and an active member of Piedmont Church in Marietta.



JEREMY ABERNATHY, ASSOCIATE JUDGE

Jeremy AbernathyJeremy Abernathy was appointed to the Woodstock Municipal Court bench in May of 2021. Jeremy graduated from Morehouse College (B.A.), Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law (J.D.) and Liberty University (M.A.R.). He has practiced law since 2007, primarily in the area of domestic relations and probate. He is a founding partner of the firm, Abernathy Ditzel Hendrick, LLC. In Marietta, Georgia. Jeremy is a graduate of Leadership Cobb, class of 2022, and secretary on the Executive Committee, State Bar of Georgia Family Law Section. Jeremy serves as the Senior Pastor of Noonday Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. He is married to Tiffany and they have three daughters.


LUKE MAYES,
ASSOCIATE JUDGE

Luke Mayes

Luke Mayes is a lifelong resident of Cobb County, Georgia. After graduating from North Cobb High School in 1992, he attended Oxford College of Emory University and received his Bachelors degree in Political Science from Emory in 1996.  He was awarded a law degree from Emory University School of Law in 1999 and has been in practice since that time.




MISTY SMITH, COURT ADMINISTRATOR

Misty SmithMisty Smith joined the City of Woodstock in March of 2023. Prior to being hired to work with Woodstock Municipal Court, Misty worked with the Acworth Municipal Court for nearly two decades. She holds a Masters Certification in Court Administration.
