Rising High School Juniors and Seniors May Apply to Participate in the Week-Long Summer Program
Program Dates: June 10 - 14
Provides rising high school juniors and seniors with a deeper understanding of the role of local government while developing valuable leadership skills.
In partnership with the University of Georgia’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership.
Youth will participate in visits to city departments, sessions with instructors from the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership, meetings with City Directors, and a City Council Meeting.

12:00 p.m. Opening Reception at The Chambers at City Center
12:30 p.m. Session with University of Georgia J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development
4:00 p.m. Meet with City Directors
5:30 p.m. Dinner
7:00 p.m. City Council Meeting
June 11, 2024
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sessions with University of Georgia J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development

To apply, students should complete the application below. Submit a recommendation from a teacher or school administrator illustrating evidence of leadership. Also, create and upload a two-minute video centered on why the student should be considered for the academy. Twelve applicants will be accepted from Cherokee County; Woodstock residents will be given priority.
Participants will be notified of selection on or before May 15th.
