2023 Development Forum Save the Date (3) - CopyJoin Woodstock Community Development on Friday, February 10th for the 2023 Woodstock Development Forum, brought to you by the City of Woodstock, Woodstock Arts, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), and Georgia Power. This half-day forum brings together decision-makers and experts from around the region to promote knowledge sharing and mutual learning on land use and transportation issues impacting Woodstock and greater Cherokee County.

Mitchell Silver joins us for this year’s keynote address. Mitchell is a principal with McAdams, a land planning and design company. Known for inspiring practitioners and community advocates to “fall in love with planning again,” Mitchell clearly demonstrates the importance of bridging cultural divides and presenting sound fiscal arguments in planning. Mitchell has elevated the planning profession through persuasive research and communication when speaking to local, national, and international audiences about economic resiliency and changing demographics. His work, primarily in cities on the east coast, includes innovative policymaking in the areas of comprehensive planning, urban design, and implementation strategies. Prior to joining McAdams, Mitchell served as the commissioner for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, Chief Planning Officer in Raleigh, NC, and President of the American Planning Association (APA) and the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). He was the first Black American to be elected president of APA and AICP.

The City of Woodstock is dedicated to achieving the highest quality of development, infrastructure, and quality of life for its citizens. As guardians of the public trust, it is our goal to ensure the efficient use of limited resources, improve coordination between public bodies, build consensus among competing interests, increase public awareness of community needs and resources, stimulate forward thinking among our constituents, and encourage business growth and entrepreneurial success in Woodstock.
